March 25-26, 2013, saw the first GOBLET/ELIXIR-UK workshop, funded jointly by the BBSRC, MRC and NERC, and hosted by The Genome Analysis Centre (TGAC) in Norwich, UK. The workshop aimed to introduce the GOBLET and ELIXIR communities, providing a forum for exploring and sharing training experiences, collaborative ideas and best practice across themes such as bioinformatics, computational biology and computing.
Once formally funded, ELIXIR-UK will begin to build a training community within the UK, connecting this community with related training activities throughout Europe. GOBLET reaches beyond European boundaries, extending the training network to the rest of the globe. Following this extremely constructive and productive workshop, TGAC made the following press release.
Attached is a copy of the opening presentation on GOBLET.
The minutes and actions arising from the workshop are now available. Meanwhile, Edinburgh Genomics, Nowgen, CGAT and BioSharing are the first organisations from the workshop to sign the GOBLET MoU; others are welcome!
