Domenica D'Elia

Hi, I’m a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Since 2001 I’ve a permanent position at the Institute for Biomedical Technologies of the Italian National Research Council, in Italy. Presently, I’m the Secretary of the GOBLET Executive Board and Chair of the EMBnet Executive Board - The Global Bioinformatics Network. My research activity in Bioinformatics started in 1996 with the development of biological databases and tools for integration and analysis of omics data. Since 2008 I have been experimenting with the application of machine learning techniques to the analysis of big data and the development of tools for network reconstruction with the Computer Science Department of the University of Bari. I also collaborate with the CREA and University of Bari, at a study on the effects of table grapes on the expression of genes involved in the immune response and chronic inflammation. With colleagues at my Institute, we are specialised in transcriptomics, development of analysis software and data warehouse. Since 2008 I’ve organised tens of Conferences, workshop, tutorials and training schools in bioinformatics.
